Youth Energy To Be Channelized For Nation Building : Mr.Shripad Naik

India's greatest asset is its youth manpower, the energy of which needs to bechannelized for nation building. Educational Institutions should provide them knowledge which should be scientific and logically valid, one that enhances qualities of uprightness, sel esteern, trustworthiness and sense of responsibility. Our skilled manpower must be provided with avenues and opportunities to work in the country itself so that they are not required to search for better avenues elsewhere", said Mr. Shripad Naik, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy (AYUSH). He was speaking at the 8th Convocation of Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences (DMIMS) Deemed University on thursday, the 13th April at Datta MegheAuditorium at Sawangi (Meghe), Wa rdha. Shri Dattaji Meghe, Chancellor of the University presided over the function. Dr. Vedprakash Mishra, Chancellor of Krishna institute of Medical Sciences (Deemed University), Karad was conferred with the Degree of 'Doctor of Medical Sciences (D.M.Sc.), (Honoris Cau.) in recognition of his exemplary and selfless services of impact and consequence to the cause of Medical Education in India. In his acceptance speech Dr. Mishra dedicated this honour to his parents. Adv. V.R. Manohar, Former Advocate General of the State of Maharashtra was alsoconferredwiththe prestigiousdegreeorDoctorof Letters (0.1ittr (Honoris causa) in recongnition of his meritorious services rendered to the legal profession for last six decades with great eminence.

in the Convocation, 34 Doctoral Degrees (Ph.D) were conferred of which 16 were in Faculty of Medicine, 13 in Faculty of Dentistry, 2 in Faculty of Nursing Sciences and Faculty of Interdisciplinary Sciences each and one in the Faculty of Ayurvedic Sciences. r academic distinctions 94 awards were also conferred which included 78 Gold medals, 03 silver medals and 13 prizes and Chancellor% medals. Dr. Karishma Makhija received a highest numberof 15 medalswhich included 10Gold medalsforherexcellent performance at Final MBBS examination and thereby became highest rnedal recipient in 8th Convocation, closely followed by Dr. Snehil Goswami who bagged 7 Gold medals. Other prominent medal winners were Dr. iuhi Gupta 04 Gold medals, Dr. Anuja Alok Raniwala 04 Gold medals and Dr.Roma Dhande 03 Gold medals.

A total number of 642 recipients were conferred various degrees under various faculties of health sciences including 300 in the Faculty of Medicine, 149 in the Faculty of Dentistry, 59 in the Faculty of Ayurvedic Sciences, 113 in the Faculty of Nursing and 19 in the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences. Dr. Vedprakash Mishra, Pro-Chancellor, Dr. Dilip Gode, Vice Chancellor, Dr. V.K. Deshpande, Pro-Vice Chancellor were present on the dais. Other dignitaries present were Shri Sagarji Meghe, Shri Sameerji Meghe, members Board of Management, Dr. A.1. Anjankar, Registrar, Dr. S.S. Patel Chief Co-ordinator, Dr. R.M. Borle, CEO, AV8RH, Deans of Colleges, Deans of Faculties and members of Board of Management. The programme was largely attended.
