Institutional Forum for Women and Gender Equality Cell
PREAMBLE
DMIHER (Deemed to be University) established its autonomous cell for women named "Institutional Forum for Women" on 23rd Nov. 2010, with the Aim of providing guidance & support to all women working in DMIHER to confront their difficulties, create conducive working atmosphere, strengthening redressal system aiming to eliminate any sort of discrimination against women. It also aims to work for achievement of gender equality.
The forum also works with the Vision of making this forum a unique platform for the development of its members & there by having a Mission of striving to create better & just society by empowering women.
Cell specially works for equality of males and females at every level in all the institutions. There are 3-5 members of institutional forum for women in each institution under DMIHER. Additional 2-3 members specially work for internal complaint committee.
Institutional forum for women and internal complaint committee together regularly conduct programs for students and staff while observing special days for women. Conduct minimum one workshop on gender equality every year for each institute. A calendar for each year is made and followed.
Internal complaint committee has been made a separate cell due to its special role in protecting women in the University from sexual abuse at work place and helping them in case of problems.
Two gender champions are selected from each batch of students in each institution. These champions are involved in all activities of women's forum.

OBJECTIVES OF CELL
- Creating an environment through positive economic and social policies for development.
- To ensure enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedom by women on equal basis with men in all spheres—economic, social and cultural.
- Equal access to participation and decision making of women in social, political and economic aspects of the university.
- Equal access to women to health care, quality education at all levels, career and vocational guidance, employment, equal remuneration, occupational health and safety and social security.
- Strengthening redressal systems aimed at elimination of all forms of discrimination against women.
- Changing organizational attitudes and practices through desired sensitization and active participation and involvement of both men and women.
- Mainstreaming the gender perspective in the development process.
- Elimination of discrimination of all types and forms of violence against women.
- Building and strengthening partnerships with civil society and relevant women’s organizations.
